beware viewing NTFS is ok but NEVER EVER EVER write to NTFS from linux it will break it

thats because you formatted it and wiped windows which its set to boot by default to get it to boot from the win98 cd you need to hit one of the F keys (F10 or F2 i think - its a different F key from the one for the BIOS) …

happens to my dell seemingly the PSU speeds up its fan depending on how much power is being drawn (it assumes more power drawn means the system is working hard therefore it tries to cool it)

do you have broadband or dialup? also, if you have broadband is it cable (looks like tv ariel cable) or ADSL (phone line)

secondly its not "linux enterprise" there is thousands of different linuxes i beloeve what you mean is either SuSE or Redhat also, why do you want to slow it down if your cables and hubs are of the slower speed your card will automatically slow itself down

i know wifi devices are notorious i got a £17 belkin wifi card and it bluescreened my system (even with thier updated driver) - in the end i went to the chipset manufacturers website (ralink in my case) and used thier driver, and it works no probs

linksys wireless g router - adsl version i have the ethernet (i have cable so dont need a modem) version and its excellent cost me £35 google "BROADBANDBUYER" and you tell it your ISP and it will list routers and modems for it

bad luck by the way may be of help to someone - i know on my NTL cable modem and my various routers that you pull out the power and put apin into the wee hole it resets all the settings to factory defaults

How fast is the AMD processor and what is its intel ewuivilent? 128 will just run SuSe but 300 odd - 512 is better An old fedora like version 1 will run on 128mb ram as will a fairly compact distro like debian or slackware.

do you mean you have trouble going to sites you havent visited before? this may mean the dns server of your isp is down or has been reset - if your on cable broadband then go into network connections, right click on it and do repair then poweroff your modem …

this used to happen on a win95 olivetti pc i used to have. the monitor never came on and the LED stayed lit- it would boot every once in a while ok and have no problems but othertimes it would do this It turned out to be a dodgy PSU
