Since you said that the comp restarts when under load, I'm inclined to think that this is a heating issue. Try running the computer with the side open and a fan blowing air inside it. If the restarts stop, then it's definitely a heating issue and you need to add …

Also to put your mind at ease, 62 degrees is a safe temp for the CPU. As long as it doesnt touch 80-90 degrees, youre fine.

No, you cannot use both DDR and DDr2 simultaneously on boards which have both the slots. You can use either DDR or DDR2 at one time. I guess this should answer your second question.

To answer your question, you can upgrade the REM only if theyre the same type. You cant use DDR RAM for DDR2 or SD for DDR. You can upgradr diff capacities and frequenxies of the same type of RAM

Its possible that while pushing the cord initially, you have broken the soldering holding the port in place. Try the cord on another similar computer to eliminate that as a point of failure. Also, take your computer to an authorised Toshiba Service Center to get the issue fixed.

x64 is okay, if you dont mind the lack of drivers for some devices like my HP Deskjet 3325 printer. Interms of performance, I'd say an 8% boost in the feel of the OS, a better implementation of the TCP/IP stack. The look is the same as WinXP. Also, older …

If youre sure youve set the BIOS to boot from the CD first, then in all probability, the CD isn't bootable, which means it's an illegal copy. Get a copy of Windows XP from the store and try booting off of it.

try disconnecting the CD drive and see if the problem is resoled. If it is, its the CD drive at fault. Also, see if the drives are detected in the BIOS

If your HD is a SATA device, you may need to provide the SATA drivers during Windows setup. These drivers will be on a floppy which came with your mother board.

I would guess that there's a problem with the board. One way to verify this is to take your RAM stick to another computer and see if it's detected properly. Then, get a known working module and install it on your computer. See if the problem recurs. If it does, …

I agree. Considering you're putting together such a beefy system, it'll be worth your while to invest in a high power and good quality PSU. Im not sure of a model, but PSUs from Antec are really good. I suggest you get a 550 Watt PSU at the very least …

I dont think laptops have SATA drives (may be wrong though). If this is the case, it's possible the lappy's HD may have crashed or a cable may have come loose. Tighten the data and power cables and see if the drive is being detected...

Well, it is possible that your other partitions may have gotten corrupted. Try booting to recovery console and try running chkdsk /r from there. If this does not solve your issue, you may need to give your HD to a professional data recovery company.

Remive the CMOS battery. Also, if the bboard has a CMOS reset jumper, short those pins. Doing so will clear the CMOS.

Dude...you opened a new drive? You just voided the warranty for it. If you were having problems with the drive, you could have just taken it back to where you bought it from and got a replacement. OPening a device voids its warranty....

Are your IDE drives being detected in the BIOS? If yes, then the board should be fine and your computer will boot off of the Windows CD. Try the usual checks though. Power and data cables tightly attached to the drives and the board.
