*sigh*

I'm a full time student and work full time to pay my bills.

As do I.

I don't make the nice paycheck alot of u do yet and until I do I won't have a cozy office to kill alot of time on Google when security is stable and up to date on the network/s.

What might suprise you actually is that most of us are amatuers, who don't get paid for anything we do computer-wise.

I fixed the problem

This is good to hear.

& BTW, I fixed the problem without devoting my life to search engines.

While you may have problems with them, I see no reason to avoid them. They're there for the benefit of the user.

O and Stein, you really use firefox?

Sure do.

One of the main problems I have with people who don't do any research whatsoever is that many are too lazy to find even basic knowledge online. As caperjack said, they want to be completely taken by the hand. Also, many don't care to learn.

As this thread has been solved, and also has reverted to name calling, I will be closing it.

Thanks.

If someone knows why XP does this and knows why please let me know i am rather curious as to why it does this.

I might be misinterpreting what you say, but I think that RAM part of Video RAM isn't shown in total.

Now is there any way i can majorly mess this up

Just follow exactly what lasher has said. And be sure to buy that static strap--as I've seen many problems arise simply because of static.

Open it stays, for it is, indeed, the lounge. ;)

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Ummm...you mean Xbox?

Why not stop wasting your time and buy a subscripton? :(

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

For most things, I use names of sports teams, with numbers at the end.

But like server_crash said, if it's for anything somewhat important, I would make it necessary to write down.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

What model laptop are you using?

This is often a customizeable setting. I, for one, have it, for energy management.

Look under Right Click> Properties > Screen Saver > Power

Have you tried booting into Safe mode? Repeatedly tap F8 while starting up.

Also, if this works, try choosing "Last known good configuration"

Also, what makes you think its a virus? Why don't you think its just a broken mouse? Have you tried using any other mouses plugged into your computer?

Don't bump your thread.

What do u mean windows repair?

Have you even tried research? If so, you'd find this website among the top 3 of Google.

Several things:

1) Is there any reason you've posted the same, exact message 3 times now, at varying times?

2) If you want a response, I will recommend that you don't put your entire message in blue bold.

3) If you do decide to post, be sure to post your thread inside the correct forum

The first time you posted this, you put it inside the Linux forum. Now, you're posting it inside the XP forum.

4) Lastly, don't, ever, start multiple threads with the exact same message. It also seems like you tried to get more hits by changing the topic and color. Nice try.

Moved to the correct forum.:-|

Well done Rebel. :)

I've had this problem as well, and this will be a major help.

Cant find a quicker way but this works.

I think the only quicker way would be to write a batch file, which would take more effort then this.

Again, well done. :)

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Agreed with Marty. I don't think its a software-related problem. ;)

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

That's odd. Is there any possiblity that the site was down when you tried to access it?

Welcome to Daniweb. :)

Also, I had a look at your site,, and it seems to be taking shape quite well, even though it's still under construction. Good job.

Lastly, if you're looking for any constructive criticism for it, check out this forum:

This guide shows how to reformat your computer in case of a severe corruption or a severe malware infection where helpers cannot guarantee the security of your computer.

This guide is for reinstalling XP only. Do not use this guide if you are not reinstalling windows XP. Only use this guide if you are reformatting using the XP cd (not using a 'recovery partition' that some computer manufacturers use)

This guide is 'as is'. There are many circumstances which may change the success of your reformat.

Now then, let's get started:
Before you can reformat, you will need to have the following:

Prerequistes:
1. Your windows XP cd.
2. A means of backing up your most important data. Don't backup everything, the more you backup, the more chance there is that malware will get on your newly formatted computer. You might use another hard drive, some cd roms, or anything that holds data to backup your files.
3. There is a small chance you will need a floppy drive.

First Steps:
1. We need to make sure that your product key is still valid. Otherwise you might not be able to install windows. To do so,

Please go HERE (Microsoft website) using Internet Explorer (NOTE: Do not use Firefox or any other browser as they won't work)

My guess is that its in there. :)

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Have ya tried removing/replacing the CMOS battery?

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Doesn't sound to hopeful for that computer. ;)

(I think it got fried).

Thanks.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

some questions questions:

1) Have you tried another screen?

but how can I get the info off the hard drive?

Definitely possible. :) You are going to have to connect your current hard drive to the slave partition on another hard drive. *waiting for somebody else to post directions on how to do this* ;)

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Hmm....I would take out and place back in the CMOS battery (on the motherboard). With luck, it will reset it.

Thanks.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Several things:

1)

I've had overclock failures before

Are ya currently overclocking it?

2) I wouldnt always trust the temperature gauge built into the computer ;)

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Have you tried removing and putting back in the CMOS battery on the MoBo?

I believe this clears it...

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Damn...very true.

Then again, you could always keep it on a medium setting, and only turning it up when ya need it. (This is what I currently do)

I'm a laptop man myself, owning....4 :cheesy:
