so if you put the ram thats in slot A into slot B it will not work correct ,
howabout the model # on the bottom of laptop if one is there that says more than GPx.and how much ram is in slot A ,and how much are you trying to put into slot B,and is it same speed as the one in slot A max is 512 meg total

hi ,open start button and in the search box ,type this without the " 'msconfig' hit enter ,go to startup tab on the top ,in there you can uncheck the programs you don't want to run at startup. save settings and reboot computer

use ccleaner for cleaning temp and other unnecessary file ,and tidy up the registry ,and Defragler for de-fraging hdd,and Recuva if you need to try and recover any deleted files . good luck

well as i posted in mylast post win7 comes with 5.0 installed /intergrated into it ,where to look to make sure you have that version ,i still cant find , cant find it on my own win7 eve ,but if you tried to install a lesser version it should tell you that you already have a newer Version installed.

it is a service so you can go to control panel /admin tools ,services, windows installer and make sure it set to automatic,turn it on ,exit services ,see what happens then when you try the stream updates.

yeah i doubt there will be a WMP12 for XP at all. microsoft EOL'd XP a while ago and soon they will stop supporting it all together.

there is only update support for winxp sp3 now ,you must have sp3 installed
and someday soon they will stop support for Vista

I now believe the issue is that windows shuts down the hdd after some period of inactivity. And then the hdd has trouble starting up, .

if so thats only a software issue ,turn the power feature off and see how things go ,shouldn't have tobuy a new one ,and from what iread ssd drives are very expencive and small ,only about 40 gig i think

might be a good reason it got left behind !

hi ,my opinion ,not much you can do/find out with out power ,2 options come to mind ,buy just the charger [no need for a battery just yet] ,or take it to a computer shop[low profile one that might not want an arm or a leg to check it for you ] or a friend who might have a universal power adapter to try booting it up

on thew underside of the netgear ,router you should find a small reset button,using a paper clip ,hold it for about 20 seconds or so ,let go and it should reset router

try turning off[if on ] all power option like sleep/hibernate/screen savers/hdd shut off , ect ect

Error – “Wsock32.dll (or another .dll) is not a valid windows image”

This error is a tough one as it severly limits the programs or apps that you can run in Windows. This error pops up every time you try to open a program in windows, well not every program but most. Most spyware programs can’t be ran because this error pops up and prevents it.

One would think that the solution would be to repair the invalid .dll, but what ended up fixing it for me was extracting a fresh copy of explorer.exe. It looks like explorer.exe had gotten corrupt for some reason and was causing the bad image errors with certain .dll s.

1. To repair the problem open up msconfig, it is actually one of the few programs in windows that would still open. To open it click on Start -> Run ->Type in “msconfig”. Once it is open click on the button that says “Expand File”. From there you will select the file that needs replaced and the location of the good file. Most of the time the good file can be found in the i386 folder of your XP install cd. My msconfig didn’t like the directory “C:\Windows\System32\ that was already filled in, so browse to the Windows\system32 directory and it should work just fine.
2. Expand the file, it will look like nothing …

Sorry for the extremely long delay in responding back to you. Yes, the new 64 bit hardware booted up on 32 bit Xp Pro and squawed profusely about the drivers and that was easiy remedied by the Gigabyte DVD supplied drivers. Everything worked out great except the microphone input on the motherboard didn't work. I'm not going to pursue getting a replacement mobo, I just got a new webcam to update a really old camera and an OK mike. Thanks for you helpful comments. Speedy

first sfc stands for system file checker ,it would only replace missing system files like the ones you mention ,dllcache.exe and chkdsk.exe ,no it wold not replace the whole windows os.
don't see point in removing sp3 ,but you could try just install it over top of itself if it will let you .

not sure what you mean by answer questions ,what questions ,i would update to IE ,also i would install Firefox browser ,and start using it also if you don't all ready ,eventually you will get to like it better than IE

try going to start/run type in with out the quotes "sfc /scannow"note there is space between the c and the /, you may be asked to put in the winxp cd to replace missing system files

i use win7 ,and like it very much ,went from xp to win7,skipped Vista, don't miss xp one little bit .
I got win7 Ultimate free for hosting a win7 coming out party last year and been using it since on my older computer ,some day i might get new tower to enjoy the full feature of win7
