The problem is 2003 is older than Vista. You should install 2003 first in this dual boot configuration.

Windows is blocking the System Configuration tool(msconfig) from displaying a message on startup. Right click on the popup to show the blocked program and allow it to start. Be sure to put a check in the box to prevent it from happening again.

Try reinstalling the USB Adapter Card extensions . Seems there is also an issue if processor cycling is on in the Energy Saver control panel on the G3's.

According to Microsoft's minimum requirements you should be ok. The processor on your pdc might be a concern if you're going to 2003. I think Microsoft recommends 550 MHz though it will run with less. On the other hand, according to Murphy in regards to upgrading any Microsoft os .... …

Assuming you're running XP, have you installed service pack 2 ? There were known bugs in imapi.sys that sp2 should fix.

Boot from the XP cd and choose repair console. Once you are at the command prompt enter fixmbr and enter; once that's done type fixboot and enter; then restart. Vista is history.

I would recommend using the drivers from the manufacturer rather than using Windows Update. Try 'rolling back' the driver from Device Manager.

Just installed it myself; after 50 minutes and 4 restarts. Too soon to tell if there's any performance improvements but the System control panel now reports the 4 GB ram I have installed. (even though only 3.25GB is actually 'available' as reported by the System Information tool)

If your BIOS setup includes your cd/dvd rom as a boot device it will boot from the windows disk and start the install. If your bios does not support booting from cd you can download files from microsoft to create a set of bootable floppy disks.

You must be administrator to run defragmentation. Some 3rd party defrag utilities, like Diskeeper can run in the background as a service which you should be able to run with admin credentials regardless of the user actually logged in.

You can create an image of your entire system with vista's Backup and Restore Center, which you can save to a hard drive or burn to one or more dvds. There are also 3rd party solutions like Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image.

Macs are no better or worse than PCs. Apple makes their firmware proprietary in an attempt to prevent cloning. If you really want to run OS X on a PC check out: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Personally i (like Jack) would has used more space for the C: drive. You should be able to manage without repartitioning though. For one, clean up your desktop - move any files/folders to one of the other partitions. Go to Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center. Under Sharing and Discovery, leave File Sharing 'On' and turn Public Folder Sharing 'Off'. Also make sure Windows firewall has an Exception set for File and Printer sharing. I have UAC on and share successfully with XP machines using the above settings.
