Do you mean that you can't go to the bottom left hand corner to bring uop the START menu and click RUN and type EXPLORER.EXE? If there is anything yiou can do, like run Internet Explorer to bring down anti-malwarebytes and scan your system for a trojan then: 1. Can …

Did this happen suddenly? if so, what's changed or been added? In Safe Mode you should be using the VGA BIOS in the Radeon and you could probably sort it out from there.

yeah - I'd have advised you that 2nd Level cache of 6MB is about right for Vista x64. I would always go for the Intel processor range. I trust it better since AMD is the catch-uop company that sees Intel as the big bad guy.

The "by the book" method is to set policies that do not allow developers to receive "silent automatic updates" unless they have been centrally orchestrated by your QA. Your QA or someone would have a development lab isolated from your real development environment. They would test an update against a …

Also, remember that 1 GB graphics card will top slice 1GB from your usable RAM. This, in turn, might (probably would) increase paging/swapping with noticeable lag on games that demand a high frame rate. IMHO, 1GB cards should be used in an 8GB system RAM envuironment under 64 bit Windows.

So, reigningscorpio is recommending that we advise in such cases: On an even date, leave the PC for three days then try turning it on again. On an odd date, do likewise but for two days. Should work then. LOL.

I hope someone will provide more detailed advice but I'll certainly help you think this through. You haven't said much about the type of encoding you do, the degree of compression you require, what's being re-coded if anything. So my offered advice is generic. I've also assumed that your video …

Generally if you can boot at all into Safe mode, the main system is fine. If sound doesn't work then it's often a drivers issue or conflict with something else you've installed. Safe mode only boot is a clue to this. You don't say what happens when you try to …

Not just probably. Definitely and those problems are not user fixable. There is an outside chance that there's a ribbon cable kink/issue that can be sorted by a repair shop - but not usually by a user.

Except for one detail, kaninelupus has offered sound advice. The difference is not to bother with the "last resort" warning. If an application can't be removed by system provided tools, just delete the app folder, clean the registry and reboot. No messing about.

What utility did you use to create the MBR on the new drive? And in case I'm chasing nothing with the above question, have you shorted the CMOS and set the real BIOS into default state ("real BIOS" as distinct from code that is bootsrapped in)?

Because the entry is in the RUNONCE section of the regustry, it will run on reboot. If you have restored your system to factory, then this is likely to be a kosher RUNONCE from HP (a reminder I believe to backup your system). If it's there after normal operations. it's …

Even the ATI site doesn't have an XP driver for this graphics device. My earnest advice is to revert to the factory installed Vista. Everything that works on XP works on Vista (at least so I've found). Otherwise you may find yourself well up sh*t creek nix paddle. Sorry.
