Re: What is the BIOS on your PC. AMI,Award,Phoenix,IBM or other. AMI/ Award/Phoenix 1 long beep indicates memory error. Try cleaning and reseating memory modules. IBM 1 continuous beep indicates failing Power Supply (or worse scenario failed motherboard) | |

Re: You don't say what the OS is. However, the system sounds may be set so that it will bleep every time a program loads. This can be easily changed (control panel/sounds} and does not indicate any problems with your laptop. Anyway- if it isn't broke-why fix it ? | |

Re: Media control Device is listed 4 times. This can cause problems. Boot into Safe Mode and remove all 4 media control devices (you may even find more !). Reboot normally and let windows detect devices. Re-install drivers if required. | |
Re: The fact that you say that the two beeps are faint might indicate that the CMOS battery needs replacing. Otherwise 2 beeps- 1. Memory error -check and clean memory modules. 2. Possible low power supply (PSU replacement). | |

Re: If you have IE7 installed- update to IE8. If IE8 is already installed -downgrade to IE7 and re-install IE8. You may have to do this in safe mode. Hope this works. | |
Re: The update KB925902 is known to cause this problem. If it has recently been installed - remove it. Reboot and see if problem remains. If the BSOD has gone and you want the update -try reinstalling the update in Safe Mode. | |
