No need for that, caperjack. Simply visit this page: https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/?os=Windows&application=mozilla to download and install the ieView extension. After it is installed, you only need to right-click on a link and choose "Open Link Target in IE" and an Internet Explorer window will open with the required page loaded. In my …

There are no such thing as CPU drivers. There are drivers for the motherboard, the onboard features, and the internal cards you include in it, and of course they can be updated in the same way as you can for a system based on any other processor platform!

The most important part is the graphics processor on the card. Doesn't matter what other bits you have, if the graphics chip is cruddy, the card is cruddy! Next most important thing is the speed and responsiveness of the RAM chips. The colockspeed of the video RAM is measured in …

You don't NEED CD burner drivers. You only need software to use with the burner. The only drivers utilised by Windows are the IDE bus mastering drivers, and those should be obtained from the motherboard manufacturer. the only potentially useful downloads available from the drive manufacturer are Firmware updates, and …

I would suggest that you uninstall and ditch all the optimisation programs and utilities that you have, with the exception of NOD32 and AdAware. Add Spybot Search & destry to your collection, then thouroughly scan your system again, (from 'Safe Mode') with each of those tools, making sure that they …

Perform an 'In-Place Upgrade' as a measure to repair the damage done to your Windows installation. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315341&Product=winxp Afterwards, reassess your approach to deleting files. People who delete files from the \WINDOWS folder invite problems!

Here are all the device drivers for your Presario. Download them and install them. there are most likely some updated drivers there compared to the ones you have installed. Do not worry about the onboard graphics driver of course. Then uninstall and reinstall the games you are having problems with. …

Laser might have been kidding, but he's right on the money nevertheless. Add-ons like the Google tooldar do a reasonable job of blocking pop-ups in IE, but changing to a stand-alone browser with that functionality inbuilt is a much, much better approach.

There's also the point you can get to where the constant fiddling to get things working is enough to convince you that perhaps it's time to upgrade some components! That motherboard might still be working, but with ISA slots on it the thing is a relic! If that Soundblaster is …

Best rule to follow: If a component won't run stable without increasing voltages, you've overclocked further than it can handle! Beyond that point, don't overclock unless you can afford to throw the component in the bin and replace it with a new one!

Start the system in 'Safe mode'. (Press <F8> prior to the Windows Logo screen displaying) Log in as 'Administrator'. You should be able to do so if the disgruntled ex-employee hasn't altered that one as well. From there you should be able to remove existing user accounts and create new …

You may have had file encryption or other protective measures taken to sfaeguard them, which should have been removed before backing them up, and they are no longer accessible because of that factor. There may …

I don't think you properly understand what that 200MHz actaually means. It's not the same as 200MHz increase on a Pentium. The performance rating on those processors is a better guide, and the jump from a 3000+ to a 3400+ is more akin to the change from a P4 3GHz …
