>Its not Pocket PC, Instead its much bigger and powerful and it will change the entire race in technology. he was joking. Microsoft Surface looks to a be a revolutionary product. If MS can lower costs and find new use for it, it'll be quite beneficial.

fedora is buggy in my expirience, i've had better luck with SLED 10. you should definetly give debian a try, it's very easy to install, it'll run quite fast.

american football in europe is ridiculous. In my opinion, football is the most boring sport there is. baseball, however is fun to watch and to play. I think europe's sport is football(soccer) and it'll always be that way.

in vista i think you need to mess around with the networking features. i can't remeber but i think there's a specific option that enables you to look at other workgroup computers.

it's time to upgrade. either buy a new computer, or buy xp. the driver for ME probably doesn't work properly, or maybe there is no driver for ME.

I've heard good things about it, how you can turn a $60 router into a $600 router. I'd try it out, expect I don't have money right now.

why don't you try wiping out the hard drive completly. www.killdisk.com download the image, burn it on a cd and boot from it. this will write zeros on all the sectors, so it'll be completly wiped. once you've done that, try to install xp again. chose the nfts option, not …

Re: unix

unix and linux are very similar. solaris is unix, you can get it here http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/get.jsp. you can get linux downloads anywhere, as there are hundreds of distros available. www.osdir.com is a sight that reviews different operating systems, so you can check there, they usually have download links. you can't really …

Hey glenno, You need to configure your router to forwared ports 80 and 21 to your web server. You don't need to do anything to the modem. As for the subnet question, I don't think they need to be under the same subnet mask.

can you be more specific on the BSOD? what does it say? if you google your problem you can come up with a solution, as you see, many people have had the same problem.

i've never seen anything like that actually. i'm sure it exists. you can always buy those little usb antenas that you can hook up to your computer. they're supposed to pickup signals from farther away. but i don't know how good it would work for you.

first of all, there is no such thing as 2000 xp media center edition. XP came out in 2001 and media center came out in 2003. Second, the internet never stopped working, but you're connection was the one that didn't work. go to a command prompt and type ipconfig/renew and …

you should try pearson vue, they have training courses for everything. You might also want to check your local colleges for applied technology.

i disagree with you. profit is definetly a reason for doing it, but it was more of a way of comunicating better. it really wasn't about making money as it was the actual technical aspect of it.

operating systems and computer architecture might be very interesting, but not usefull to your field. I agree with Duki, i'd take databases, as that will probably help you more.

it could be a defective nic. my teacher had a nic that when plugged into a network, would flood it completley and shut it down within 10 seconds.

>a virtual machine seems _a lot_ easier and _a lot_ more safe. I don't think it's a virtual machine because if it was, you'd be able to run it along side windows. That looks pretty cool, I think i might try it.

xp pro is for businesses. You say that it's better for home networking becuase it connects to a domain? think again. Why does he need to have a domain in his home? Stick to xp home, as it's good for home.

by pinging 127.0.0.1, you're testing your nic(network interface card), and by the results it looks like it's working properly. You should reset your modem, because it seems the DNS server isn't working, if that doesn't help, call your ISP.

i'm certain that the reformatted drive has nothing to do with it, but maybe a setting has changed. It depends on which browser you use, but check the proxy settings, and the workoffline settings.
