I have a suggestion for cscgal to make a forum for games and game consoles. I'd be a forum to talk about game strategies, cheat codes, or whatever. That would be really cool.

you can't install halo 2 unless you have directx 10, and you can't install that unless you have an nvidia geforce 8 series video card.

be specific, why aren't you connecting? what errors are you getting? have you tried even configuring a connection? have you checked proxy settings?

when buying a dell, buy as little ram as you can, because it is so expensive, you can always buy it a newegg.com, since it's very cheap there.

probably what you'll have to do is boot to the windows cd and run the following commands. fixboot fixmbr so that you can boot to windows, then on the c drive you'll want to edit the boot.ini file and add ubuntu as a boot option.

are the accounts in the bob's private? if you can connect to the internet, you are connected to the network, sharing resources is another thing.

Sounds like it's your internet connection. if you reset your router correctly, it should have reseted any settings that might have been changed.

Gentoo is hard to configure. for hard core linux users gentoo is better, but for newbies, ubuntu is a good starting place.

yes, but it's worth about $1000. you might look at implementing a linux domain server, which is the same thing, you should look at SLES 10. not olny will you learn more with linux, it'll be cheaper of free.

if you get the blue screen of the death, or this specific one, it's either your ram that's damaged or it's your memory slot.

a wireless router is a wireless router, it doesn't recognize os's, you just plug it in. linksys, and netgear router are probably better for home use. any one of those should work, just make sure they have the 802.11 a, b or g, NOT n, as those are the standard. …

Acutally, if it says free upgrade to vista premuim, you'll most likely get aero. I agree with jbennet. Don't upgrade for a few months, and before you should upgrade to 2G of RAM. Just wait for them to get the biggest bugs fixed, then upgrade.

Halo 2 for vista will DX10 which is only supported with the nvidia 8800 gpu, which costs a lot, so if you want to play it you'll have to spend at least a grand.

DX10 only works on the 8800 gpu's. that just makes me angry becuase halo 2 for pc will require dx10, and unless you have that card, you won't be able to play it.

I would definetley buy a wired router, meaning no wireless(not a switch), and then just plug in airport. it doesn't have to be fancy, and i'd look at netgear and lynksis routers.
