hold down the power button for about a minute or so and wait to see if it turns on. if that doesn't work plug in the power adapter and try again. If that doesn't work, take out the battery and do the same.

you could do a project in which 4 or five very powerful servers are built and clustered together. Using virtualization, they can replace many serers, thus saving energy.

are you using a router? if you're not, you will have to setup internet connection sharing.

that depends though. If they use a special modem, you have to use the one they supply, but a router doesn't matter

1. You want to connect to a remote server without being connected to the internet? That's like trying to drive a car without an engine in it. What you ask is impossible. 2. You should use FTP for uploading and downloading files. 3. Try SFTP(secure file transfer protocol) 4. Number …

you would want to replace the switch with the router. To do what you suggested, you would have had to have bought an Access Point, it looks like a router, but it's not, it only provides a wireless signal. Another thing you can do is update the firmware on your …

any mainstream video card should work fine. But you might want to check the manufacturer's website to see if they have drivers for server 2003

technically the core 2 duo is not 64-bit, although it's capable of executing 64-bit tasks. You should be ok.
Is accessing sites hosted locally impossible w/ the actiontec? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
It should be. I think the your network computers are trying to find the websites out on the internet, the router should redirect them to your webserver. is your server behind NAT?

i would start out using ubuntu, but i would definetley learn to use the command line. After you have more expirience, then i would go on to use slackware, or gentoo, as this will teach you a lot more about how linux works. I agree with jbennet, fedora sucks for …

you have to forward the 8080 port to your server. There will usually be a port forwarding option on your router. It shouldn't be hard.

i would start out with linux, and then move on to unix. Solaris is good, freebsd is really stupid and hard to setup, but will learn tons while doing it.

Cell phone signals are a lot different the wireless signals. Wireless routers don't usually have a powerfull range, so the signal won't make it passed a few walls. On the other hand, there are cell phone towers that use a lower frequency that can get pretty far. One solution is, …

You can do any combination you like. You can have a switch upstairs and one downstairs, and have machine hooked up directly to the router. That shouldn't be a problem. A gigabit switch would be to expensive, and unless your router and the nics in your machines are gigabit, it …

you are looking at some heavy duty clusters. A cluster is just a bunch of servers hooked up together, and they have the same specs. that is a huge number, what game are we talking here? The specs would be go something like this: 16 xeon processors, with 32GB of …

so what are you trying to do? share a printer and files? make sure the the account name in your computer is not private, as this will mess up file sharing, and double check the sharing options to see if they are correct.

the wep key from your laptop wouldn't work, you'd need another key from the router. Or you'd need to change the *'s to a different symbol like &%$#...

have you tried formating it? and i don't think it's possible for mp3 players to get viruses. if you you format it and doens't work, take it back to the store if you still have the warranty, if not, get an ipod.

cisco hardware is for the most part expensive and used only by big coorporations. Also keep in mind that lynksis routers are cisco, so i guess you could say there is a lot of cisco hardware out there.

x86 is 32-bit cpu. x86_64 is a 64-bit cpu. Most computers are 32-bit, but that is starting to change, as most macs are 64-bit, and new machines by dell, hp, and others are moving to that architecture.

> We have 12 offices each on their own subnet (192.168.1.0,192.168.2.0, etc) first of all those addresses are not subnets. couldn't you just use the software physically on the other offices? that would make your life so much easier.

although your system specs are a little on the low side, you could run vista ok. the only cards that support directx 10 are the geforce 8 series which require pci-e. And i'm assuming your card doesn't support aero, what's is your video card again? if you can get the …

it's not vista or windows for that matter, it's probably your rotuer. there's been problems with linksys routers that drop connections, or for whatever reason don't work, so if you still have the warranty, i'd try to exchange it for a new one, or i'd buy a new one
