I don't if my mobo is dead or not. It's a VIA (sucky brand). When I reset the BIOS I wasn't able to boot into either the HDD or the CD-ROM. It would only boot off the floppy. So I don't know if it's dead or not. Any ideas?

after you check the xorg.conf file, you can try run
startx
as root. This automatically starts the desktop environment.

this isn't a tutorial, it's nearly a list of software used in dedicated servers, and unless you've done it before, this will take days to complete.

What are the specs of your computer? how long has this been going on for? It depends on your hardware. We need more information. Usually reinstalling the OS is the only thing that will make a computer run faster.

If one computer was "taking it all" the other one wouldn't be able to connect at all. It's slow because it has to go through the computer, then through the router, and wirelessly to your computer. What do you expect? It's dial-up.

Xeon is the way to go, and you probably want 2 to 4GB. I wouldn't get a rack server unless I was planning on adding more.

i'm pretty sure any new distro will have sata support. I've had problems in the past with suse and sata, so i don't recommended. I think ubuntu has better support for it though.

you should probably post this in the linux forum then. i've looked online and it seems that there's not a linux driver for your card. You might want to look more into it because there has to be a driver for that card.

There are many different "distros" some of them include debian, gentoo, fedora, Suse, mepis, etc. There are hundreds. Using …

windows can natively support up to 10 monitors. All you'd have to do is add in a third graphics card and install the drivers. No, they don't sell cards that support 3 monitors, that's just stupid. You could get dual nvidia 8800's for four monitors, that would be really nice, …

what I'd do is replace with a good known power supply, and try to use it for a few days. It sounds like it could be the motherboard, but I'm not sure.

>why not call the router's techsupport? because it's painful. Make sure you have your modem connected to the WAN port on the router. Then check your network cable that goes to your computer. Routers usually come with an installation cd, so use that.
