if you have the right version of win7 you may be able to use xpmode [virtual pc],check it out here .

Actually this is a notebook in my company left by a Analyst Programmer.
I know we will use Java and eclipse, I know we will use MSSQL 2005, Office of course. But I don't know if anyone will use the whole bunch of MSSQL 2008, and I doubt it can still work. It is so messy.
the best thing to to in this case is reinstall windows and start fresh [im sure someone in your company will know how to do this and have the prober disk to do so ],not worse than a handmedown computer.good luck
well, i have this little widget that says how much of what is being used and it says i only have 2gb so i looked in my BIOS and it says i have 4gb but only 2.45gb available... and when i click on my comp it says 4gb
ok, i don't really need to know the widget.
windows boots and open services and programs like anti virus tool and much more like if you have onboard video device it will be using some of the 4gig , this all takes ram my guess it the widget is telling you how much is available after windows and all program are loaded .
i dont know why it shows in bios, and in my computer but not when it wants me to install the windows,
nor do i ,but i just read where they suggest one ,goes to the manufactures website and check for a firm wear update before trying to install win7 the story was a little dated thought some time late 2009
searching a bit and found this and more on toms hardware forum
Quote" Installing Win 7 on an SSD?
Understand that IDE mode does not support the TRIM command needed to keep your expensive SSD running at it's performance potential. Therefore you should install in AHCI mode.

You can open a store on line and earn money
really wow ,that a novel idea, what would you sell ,brains
What should I do?
more ram as suggested already ,after you do i would install sp3,
slow ,its only a Celeron CPU ,with 512 meg ram ,when is it slow ,what are you doing at the time ,what internet browser do you use ,include version ,you should try to fix the problem of the c:\ drive being almost full ,if it were mine i would remove the partition on C:\ and make it one and reformat and reinstall winxp
it is very common problem who are use xp.some time virus attack the computer and it shown this kind of problem.
spammer that makes no sense ,this is a fresh install of xp.
you cant install winxp on one computer and move it to another because of chipset drivers and such being different ,and i agree with other poster that the problem is the cdrom drive
if anyone knows the best (and preferably free) way to transfer a partition to another drive, let me know.
sad part is the Samsung utility should do that for you
edit ,check it after it i posted and it doesn't,but win7 will create a disk image .in control panel go to backup and restore
alo sending it back on the premise its going to fail will not result in you getting a new drive they will want a error code # from the utility ,and also will just check the drive when they receive it and if it test ok ,will just send it back to you
hi, hold down the power button till it shuts off ,reboot what happens ,if nothing ,you also might try removing the battery then try turning on again
im sorry we do not offer help with pirated software, this will be my last post ! ,sorry
you will/should have to reinstall windows on the old hdd ,because of difference in motherboard and video card ,ect ect
faulty device most likely ,tp-link is a fairly/really cheap device
its actually quite simple ,first go start/ computer ,go to tools /folder options /view ,uncheck sisplay full path in tite bar ,should be 6th one in the list it think '
then just right click on the file and select rename ,and rename it ,,,, anyname.mpa
ah there only pictures!
did you at least try hooking the camera to the computer and telling recurva to scan the cameras chip/storage to see if it finds the pictures ,it is a possibility
I believe because of its stability, speed, hardware resources and hardware support. Window 7 doesn't support my Lexmark 3100 all in one printer especially the scanner. Visit to the Lexmark websiet doesn't help. The only letdown is the security. For those who have hardware constraint will happily use Window XP.
no drivers for win7 ,that's lexmarks doing ,they want you to buy a new printer
I value your opinion on that, caper, so I can't see myself throwing away a good XP licence. Bill has a problem. Realistically, though, considering the extent of most peoples' use of a computer M$ should not expect to continually sell new, more powerful platforms; always some will be quite happy with what they have. Just as it is in the nature of others to over-extend by creeping specification.
agree 100% with you comments
they probably need to slow down on making all this new stuff and add on and polish the old stuff. almost like a classic car. they're still the best
I agree ,but win7 is the polished version of win98 and xp and vista~And it still needs a little more polish!!!!!!!
right click on you hdd icon and click manage, go to disk management and see if its listed there anywhere ,if it is right click on it there ' it may just need to be formatted
will i have to revert to shorting pins 45 and 47 to allow a bootable drive.......please advise.
that was the only way i could get a toshiba drive work in a Dell laptop
Hi ive tried your fix and it keeps installing a corrupted usb controller device. The device corrupted using a lenovo fingerprint reader that was factory installed. Forget trying to get the company to fix it, they can't (on going problem 2 yrs). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I had the problem with xp and when I installed window 7 it worked about a dozen times and is now corrupted. Hellllllllllp.
name make and model # of you computer might help,us help you .and im not reading all of the post above to figure out exactly what you problem is so please explain it a little better ,than "I have same issue !"
check computer to make sure the date/year and time is correctly set
i would check card to make sure it isn't getting hot, make sure fan and heatsinc are clear of dust .i would remove it and replace it to make sure good connection is being made ,i would use hardware monitor to check and watch temp.it free and easy
http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php
try control panel ,region and settings ,and make sure you chose correct keyboard layout
how do i restore factory settings
hi,with a hammer
As stated in #3, since Windows 7 is in Beta, .
win7 has been out of beta for months now
I have a desktop with no monitor and a lap top. I've purchased a cable to connect from the back of my desktop to my laptop so I could have access to my desktop, but I don't know how to make my laptop display the contents there in. Thanks for any and all replies.
because it doesn't work that way,at least i haven't found/seen a way to do it .
pc monitor can be used to view laptop not not the other way
To reboot (or restart) your PC, do just as you would to shut it down, except select restart rather than shut down. If your computer has frozen (locked up) and you cannot get it to do anything, hold the power button in for a count of 5. That will shut it down and you can power it back up normally.
or visit blog http://articalsworld.blogspot.com
good info, to bad you weren't around in aug 08, when poster asked the question .lol
Hi, check this out ,might help
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/fix-for-com-surrogate-has-stopped-working-error-in-vista/
you could try startup lite and see if it picks it up and you then check of to disable it on startup'
http://www.malwarebytes.org/startuplite.php
or if that doesn't work get hijackthis and install and run it and save log and copy past it here and i will tell you what to check off and to disable it.do not check off any thing in hijackjack until it see the log if you decide to use it ,

my questions are regarding this statement from your post
The value i am experience is with winamp on and mozzila. I can't get a value while playing something because my video card got broken (don't know why, it just crashed while looking on youtube.. never worked since
how are you viewing things on your monitor if the video card is broke.
the temps are from when you use winamp and mozilla ,neither would drive the temp up .
what program/device are you using to read/show the cpu temps
Hi Bob
Thanks, that is a very sensible suggestion!Far better than trying to find out whether MS Mediaplayer "sync" actually does what you want, and finding out by the usual error, error, chaos method forced on us by Bill!
No use asking Bill Gates as he has his hands hidden behind his back, as usual
Not that he also doesn't for copying files, but we do that every day and have already found out what that actually does! Thanks very much
esdel
maybe Bill didn't realize someday people like yourself would be out buying 17 thousand songs and [that's a lot of money you must be rich,I'm sure a good person like you didn't pirate them ] copying them to 2 different folders and then worry if they lost 1 or 2 of the 17000.
oh,and sync is for copying them to a mp3 device ,and i don't thing it will sync to another hard drive
hello, and welcome to daniweb, not saying this will work but i's worth a try i think ,i assume you are using internet explorer, open it go to tools/advanced and reset IE settings down the bottom
"he installed windows defender which would keep it from crashing again"
comment of an armature ,and he charged you a hundred bucks!wow .
ok you really need to provide more info about the laptop and the crash ,any error messages you may receive ,check event viewer in control panel admin tools.
and when it said you needed to validate it did you try to validated it at the that time .
sounds to me like it had /has a bootleg copy of windows on, and is likely not refurbished but just a cleaned and reloaded laptop .
your computer guy sounds shady to me !
my pc was built by HP
so thats where you start ,http://www.hp.com/#Support and using the model number usually found on the tower somewhere
after 2 yrs ,and this stupid post is still getting the same answers ,and original poster never came back to get all the answers .and over 52000 viewers ,Why are post like this still open even
I can go more in depth if needed. My question is can i go higher than 512 cause that seems like its not enough. Why can't i put 2x 1GB sticks in or at least 2x 512MB?
because the computer is old and low end ,and not built for winxp or 1 gig sticks of ram ,you may do a google search or dell search using the service tag# on the case and see if a bios update is available that will change how much ram it can take
I thought that if someone buys Adobe Acrobat Professional they wouldn't be buying it for opening PDF files but to make PDF files from other documents, in particular MS Word docs.
you didn't say it was full pro and that you bought it ,i made a bad assumption ,thought you were referring to adobe acrobat reader free program ! Acrobat reader sorry ,
why not just use a flash drive to take the word documents from one computer to the other to create the pdf file .i also think office 2003 can save word files as pdf file if im not mistaken ,good luck
Crunchie, In safe mode I downloaded malwarebytes, but when I click on it , it doesn't run.?
hi did you try changing malbytes.exe to fix.exe and try running it
i guess that means i need to start saving some money up, so i can get a better machine. do you have any suggestions where i might find a cheap machine that has a faster cpu? i would like one that is at least as easy to take apart and clean/add hardware as the one i have. i do have 3 small capacity hard drives (2@ 30GB, 1@ 327MB) out of old machines, and a few cd-rw and floppy drives, as well as some other spare parts. all i would need in the box (other than the mobo and cpu) would be a sound card and usb2.0 ports, and a free pci slot.
sorry i got impatient about there not being a way to get my old 'frankenstein' to handle all the sh** i ask it to do. i just have to get some extra money together :$
i do appreciate your help and time
your welcome ,as to where to find something half decent cheat im in Canada and people around here use local backyard repair guys and e-bay and www.Kijiji.com classified
how do you replace a noisy fan and know which fan to purchase my computer model is not listed on any of the sites that sell replacement fans thank you
Hi,is it a case fan or CPU fan ,i dont think dell has an actual cpu fan but a case fan that blows through to the cpu heatsinc . you could remove it and take it to local computer repair shop/store
did you try contacting Dell
this should be the fan in you tower .see attachment
Could you OM the link please ?? Thanks
no sorry link was only for discussion !
might as well have some wine too then
Here's what I'm looking for: I need a password cracking program that will attempt to crack web-based passwords. When I open a browser, and go to my website, I want to test it's security by attacking it with a password cracking program.
Any suggestions?
yeah just say the word and I'll pass the crackers ! want the salt too
I know most of you know this already but posting it anyway ,it just so annoying,i have finally stopped posting to 99% of them still get caught by a few . the link is for a job promising big money just for posting links
SNIP
to funny ,the link was for discussion purposes only ,sorry didn't know posting links to other sites for discussion was against the rules .again sorry
i think you could just make a image of the drive for when you need to reinstall windows ,and just backup created data on a storage drive ,don't see the need of creating image all the time . fail to see the need for weekly image update
Unless I missed something, all that needs to be done is right click the drive, select "Properties", click the "Security" tab, click on "Advanced" click on "Owner" and change/modify the settings. The drive does not have to be open for that.
reason i sad above ,was i didn't get the security tab on my winxp laptop ,but is is xp home and not pro ,if that matters . i only get the security and advanced on my win7 and vista but not xp .machine
This installation was obtained from my old high school so it has a academic license (or something like that). Can I or they get in trouble?
If it legit they [MICROSOFT]will know ,when you call to activate it ,if you need to !microsoft will just tell you it not ok, they will not rush out and arrest you. lol
