Windows always needs reinstalling after a motherboard change. Its an anti-piracy measure. A 350w PSU isnt enough btw. 450-550w is best.

Do you have XP Pro? - Home doesnt have IIS so theres some fiddling required. Also you must be logged in as an administrator and be a member of the Debuggers group and have opened the necessary ports in your firewall

If configured and used correctly and kept updated with patches then i think they are the same. A well configured windows system and some common sense can be very secure but "out of the box" i would hazard a guess that maybe UNIX based systems are more secure

no it doesnt vista or xp? If you have anything running off the disk or have any my computer windows open, which are showing directiories on the disk, it will be unable to eject it will also be unable to eject if you are using Vista ReadyBoost

You need javascript to log out because of the box that says "Are you sure?". I get the problem on my PDA (windows CE, IE5 compatible). Its not javascript friendly and so i can never log out without clearing my cookies.

because SATA is serial and IDE (now called PATA) is Paralell. SCSI was also faster than IDE. Dont know in comparison with SATA but most servers these days have all three

start the windows cd. There is an option for recovery mode where you can reinstall the bootloader. On xp you hit R, login then type fixboot, dont know about vista.

Blaster Worm? That messed with RPC if i remember correctly. Might want to check if the RPC service is started and set to automatic, and then do SFC to ceck if its as is should be. Can you connect using MMC?

Is the CPU compatible? Did you put it in correctly (thermal paste, heatsink and fan!!!!!) Maybe the old cpu burning out killed your motherboard

you should always use the one labelled number one if you only have one stick as it can cause problems. having it in either 1 or 2 shouldnt make a noticeable performance difference but on some computers they run a LOT faster if each slot holds identical memory
