Ironically Microsoft always advises one to backup any data before any system changes, maybe the people working for them should take NOTE of that advise.

Reg cleaners are good as good computer use still leaves one with a cluttered registry. I use Advanced System Care on Win 7 64 bit and it keeps my system running well. I used XP registry cleaner on XP and it keeps windows healthy. CCleaner is also quite good.

If you have installed win 7, and can not find the win 7 drivers for your sound, you will have to download the vista drivers for your board ( rem to check if you are using a 32 or 64 bit) and use them. A number of older boards are …

Try changing the monitor, you say the PC runs well otherwise so it a communication problem between the card and monitor. Failing that, are you using a graphics card? If so, try using the on-board graphics.

Check this site. http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19341036.aspx According to this site may be a problem with the version of windows used.

Try using an uninstall program like your uninstaller, and a registry cleaner to clean the registry, and check your start programs (programs that start with windows) and check that bitdefender does not have something associated that starts with windows.

Nice test happygeek. Pity people don't realize that different connection will give different results as it is not the speed of the computer that matters but the quality of the signal received. I use Opera 11 and am quite happy with it as it works well with 3G connections.

It would help if u gave a little more info about your pc. Such as cpu, motherboard, which version Win 7 ( 32 or 64 bit), how much ram, etc.

Try Control panel choose administrative tools choose computer management choose disk management and see if it appears there. You can also do quite a bit with there.

If your writer can burn other disks then I would suggest there is a problem with the ISO image. If you can not write other info to disk, replace the drive.

It could also be a driver problem. Did you change the display setting prior to the fault occurring, if so then rch1231 is correct.

From personal experience, the best thing to do when your pc has been hit by a virus or worm is to reinstall windows (preferably format the HDD), load a AV, update it and run a full scan. If you can not format the HDD, DO NOT access any file on …

Before anybody can help you, you will need to supply some info about your software, your service provider and your modem type. Or you could simply phone your service provider and ask them what to do.

I am running win 7 now and am reasonably impressed with it. Having worked with both XP and Vista, I was surprised by the speed and easy interface of win 7. Drivers are readily available, even the TV card ( although I had to let it upgrade itself). I have …

You will probably find the driver that works is marked for vista. I used the 4.64_nForce_winvista_audio for my realtek drivers and it worked. It seems the vista drivers are reasonably compatible to win 7.

I dual boot with XP and Win 7, but may as well remove XP becuase I am just using Win 7. It is very well supported, driverwise, and has not locked up once. The taskmanager works well, even if a program locks up.

Connect the scanner and then let it search for the driver on the net. I had the same problem with my TV card, but when I let it search for the driver it found one that worked ( my search for the driver was also negative).

I think most of the problems are if one upgrades. I did a clean install and prefer using win 7. It is quick and stable. The drivers are freely available on the net so they are not a problem. If your software is vista compatible you should not have a …

Use your xp cd and use the second repair option. It will repair the corrupt installation and should allow you to boot into xp thereafter.

I must admit I prefer working in Win 7 rather then XP. The task bar is useful when jumping between open applications. ( it shows what the application is without your having to click on it)

Must agree with caperjack speed a page opens is not dependant on how you open it but on how fast your connection is. For ease of access tabs are probably better than seperate windows.

Download Advanced windows care for IOBit www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html It will clean the registry, spyware and temp files on your pc. Should increase the speed. If the registry is bloated it will slow down your pc.

I think it will do much better than Vista. It is a good combination. The only concern would be compatibility to older programs if one can not run the XP Mode.

Boot from cd and choose the second repair option not the first (recovery console). It should repair windows. Rem to check for viruses once it is running.

Windows 7 does have software called XP Mode for programs that still need XP. It runs as virtual software and is available from the MS site. A quick search will get a lot of info.

If it is under warranty, take back to where you bought it and let them repair it. It sound s like there may be a problem with the hardware.

I agree with baltazar. Continual beeping is either graphics card or memory. If it was the hdd, it would hang or show an error message.

The point is that while Apple does produce very good products, they are preceived as arrogant due to the fact they do not want compatiblity to the available products. Foolish. They have greater support if they drop the 'can only use'.

The most important thing in any venture is to understand what you are doing. Do a bit of research using the internet or library. If you do not understand what you are doing you will be come discouraged and give up when you could make a success of it.

I think social media should remain just that....social media. People tend to deviate when given the freedom of Facebook etc. If one has teenage children with cell phones and mixit is a good example.
