Assuming you computer has a seperate administrator acct ,did you try hitting f8 on bootup and going into safe mode ,try using the admin acct and go to users in the control panel and removing the password to your acct

any chance the laptop still has it recovery partition ,
try f11 on bootup and see if you get the optio nto run the recovery

first try this ,remove battery and power cord ,hold power buttin in for about 1-2 min ,reinstall battery ,and power cord ,still no go ,remove battery and try ,still no go ,get power cord tested ,still no go, take to computer repair guy /gal

2 things i never read any of the above info ,and its [should be ]a wireless router [maybe a router/modem combo]did you try resetting the router ,either unplug for power source for a few min, or do a full reset ,small button on the back of router ,use a paper clicp to hold it for a few seconds untill all the lights go out and come back on

Ditto what happygeek said .and its nothing new ,i first connected to the internet in 1996,and there was all kinds of cracked programs avaible ,maybe not portable apps, will also like to add seeing as you are new to computers[lol] and whats outthere might i suggest Googlehappy hunting .

i use to have a thumdrive full of portable apps ,like firefox and much much more ,a email program .i could plug in the thumb drive into anyones computer check my mail ,surf the net and not add a single thing to anyone computer while doing this ,great stuff actually

just wanted to add that unless you have at least 4gig of ram yours shows it will take 2x2 for 4gid ,but may only have 2x1=2gig in it now ,i don't think there is any point in installing win7 64bit ,just my opinion based on what little knowledge of the facts i have .

start with ,right clicking on [my]Computer go properties ,it will tell you there if you are using 32 or 64 ,it will not tell you if its capable of running 64 though ,that you will have to check with acer,com and find the specs on the laptop ,laptop getting a little old ,it may run 64 bit ,when install 64 it will not install if it doesn't find the laptop to be 64bit capable .to install 64 bit you will need win764bit dvd
just found thisit appears to be capable of running 64 ,line 2 processor /speed

runnine win8 r2 on a older acer laptop ,and i don't really like it ,i like my desktop ,not a floating start app/menu,drives me nuts

need a little more info ,like why did you change to a new motherboard,using samr ram /video/power supply /case ect ect

never know for sure ,but the fack the cpu fan didn't work ,leads my brain towards the cpu being overheated ,no fan lots of heat ,only way i know to check for sure is try a working fan and cpu ,process of elimitation

the use of a digital multimeter would help in determining if the charger is putting out enough power ,a laptop doesn't need a battery to run if plugged into a power adapter ,so try removing the battery and just power up from the adapter .most good repair shops would have one and could check it for you

the idea of using the disk is to ruel out the hrddrive ,the disk will load linux into RAM ,so if its not loading its something else .like ram or motherboard .
