What jbennet said is true. Although this post should have been in the networking forum. Only specific wifi card is able to do so as there is a software in the adpater that can change the mac address. What version of windows are you using? Did you see Locally Administered Address?

There will be Windows 8 on a tablet too:) Windows 8 is able to open all softwares from other previous windows version. So if you use windows 8, you can open a windows xp application on your laptop/ PC. Cool right

1) Try starting up without the battery and use the power cord instead.
2) Try reseating the ram. If you have two ram chips, take out one and start up.
3) Test your power supply unit.

Have you try running a ram test? You can use this software to help you.

Can show me a picture of the ram.

Does using other network allow you to connect to yahoo. Is parental control blocking the site or any other softwares? How about checking the proxy server?

Firewall is good but still it does not offer the same features as an antivirus.

What is your netbook brand? Maybe you should try going for a laptop if the netbook does not suits you.

It also depends on the brand of the laptop. I suggest that an i5 processor will be good enough. Unless you are doing what flagstar said above. 4GB ram and 500 GB hard drive will do and 1 GB graphics. Good luck

Forget my advise above. Try taking out the battery and use the power cord and see whether that works. If you have an external monitor, connect it with your laptop and check whether you can view anything?

For software, try not to use Peer 2 Peer softwares and download files from unsecure websites. Have firewall turn on and your antivirus working. If all goes well, your laptop can survived for a long time:)

What is the model of the dell computer? Is there any message shown? Check the power supplu unit. If your computer is old, the power supply unit may not supply the power needed to boot up the computer.

CAn you check why application is running your CPU up to 100%? You might want to do a scan with malwarebytes .

What is your most confident area? Work hard at it, unless you want to pick a new topic you have not experience in. Will be a bit risky but it may be a huge success too.

Turn on your computer and insert the disc and after that shut it down. Next turn on your computer again and follow the onscreen instrcutions. How about my rest of the advise?

Use the power cord instead of the battery, have the battery removed and see whether your laptop works with only the power cord. Can you charge your battery. If no, battery is faulty and need to replaced soon. How old is your battery?

Can other computer connect to the network? Can you access the internet?

Does other email provided worked? Like Gmail or Yahoo Mail?
