Re: Right click on any link and choose Open in New Window (or something similar). This works in just about all web browsers.
Re: Start bar? You mean taskbar? When does this happen? Just when you start Windows? Just when you open up Internet Explorer for the first time?
Re: Why don't you install SP1? If anything it'll fix a lot of bug and security patches.
Re: Some windows98 cds are bootable - not all though. Try a different CD if you have one.
Re: I'm a little confused. I haven't looked at VB in a a bunch of years, but that code you just posted looks right? The only help I can offer is to DIM your global variables in Option Explicit. It seems you have them all declared upon hitting the "Save" button. …
Re: What, exactly, are the specs of your burner. DVD+RW and DVD-RW are two different standards/technologies that are incompatible. I, for example, have a Sony DVD+RW drive. It will ONLY write to DVD+RW disks. It won't even write to DVD+R disks! (Nevermind DVD-R/W) There are some new combo drives out that …
Re: No, no. She doesn't. Alice was my experiment at an Artificial Intelligence bot member of the forums (restricted to the geek's lounge, of course). However, she was really an Annoyingly Stupid bot member.
Re: Windows 98 or Me? (and if Me, could you do a system restore to before the problem started?) Problem just started happening or has always had problems? Hardware specs?
I installed mytop but it won't run. It gives me the following error: [font=Courier New][root@daniweb root]# mytop Can't locate Term/ReadKey.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at /usr/bin/mytop line 165. Re: Not having enough RAM could definitely affect performance. In addition, only 1.5 gigs left of hard drive space could definitely be a factor as well (i.e. you need a pagefile) Windows 98 certainly isn't as bloaded as Windows XP, of course, but it does have it's quirks. Has this always …
Re: It's almost two years later and you haven't kept us updated :-P It's a wonder what you find when you sort the forum threads oldest first ;)
Re: Can't log into web pages? It seems to me like a cookie problem. You probably have Norton security settings configured to disable cookies or to only allow cookies from certain domains. As for h40r.exe, I've never heard of it either, unfortunately. Unfortunately, it sorta seems like a virus/trojan file. I …
Re: It depends on your particular circumstances. Are you buying a new processor to go along with the new motherboard? Are you sure your motherboard supports your existing peripherals and everything you want to use it for?
Re: OK here's the deal. I started daniweb.com back in 1996 as a dog site about my two dogs. I then started techtalkforums.com to run these forums back in 2002. Just a few months ago I moved techtalkforums.com and dazah.com over to daniweb.com, replacing the dog content. The alexa data is …
Re: There's an emulator out there called VMWare which lets you create virtual machines. (i.e. install windows in linux or linux in windows). The program is expensive for both platforms however. In addition, it emulates a really slow-end machine, so don't expect to be able to do any gaming through it. …
Re: VNC? SSH X-forwarding? I'm a samba fan. Maybe Apache with ability to handle php, asp, and coldfusion? (gonna need some porting from windows to do that stuff!) Print server w/ cups?
Re: Seems a lot like a virus of some sort to me (even if it may not be a malicious one). Have you ever tried Norton Antivirus? I've been told it seems to catch more than McAffee does. Also, you are using the latest virus definitions (updates), right?
Re: I get this error occassionally too. No idea what it's from ... anyone know?
Re: I don't know anything about the GeForce FX other than that it's the latest Nvidia line. However, I am not a fan at all of the Geforce 4 MX's ... there's basically Geforce 2 technology rebranded.
Is it possible and how would I go about putting an OS 10.2 (Jaguar) machine onto a windows workgroup? (i.e. Network Neighborhood/My Network Places). I already use SAMBA to put my Linux machines onto my Windows workgroup with no problems.
Re: A windows 2000 machine, you say? Does it have any antivirus protection installed? Does it have a firewall installed? What sort of internet/network connection does it have? (i.e. a direct connection to a high speed provider that would make it prone to hacking/viruses?) How about video card? Updated video card …
Re: Sorry, I can't find what's wrong? I haven't changed any permissions lately. Just to double check, I looked at the Windows forum permissions. They are exactly the same as all the other forums - with the ability to edit your own posts.
Re: Are you trying to connect from a school or job? (i.e. where messenger may be disabled?)
Re: What browser are you using? Internet Explorer for the mac? Safari? Opera? Mozilla?
Re: You don't have MSN Messenger set up to go through a proxy, do you?
Yay! Panther just came in the mail! About to install it now and then I'll tell all you guys and gals all about how it went.
Please help me! Some homework help appreciated here, thanks! I'm trying to simulate a server (e.g. a cpu) which accepts requests (e.g. processes). All requests (theoretically) come in at the same time. Each request consists of the amount of cpu time it needs in addition to a priority on a …
Re: I've never heard of that setting before. Where did you find it? Is it part of Nvidia drivers??
Re: You're definitely on the right track looking at your power supply and memory. Is it just this game? Check for any Counter Strike patches. I seem to be seeing a LOT of AMD processors freezing up with new video cards for some reason.
Re: Can you get an IP address? If you're running Windows 9x/Me, type "winipcfg" in the Run dialog box. If you're using Win 2000/XP then open up a DOS window and type "ipconfig" Let us know the IP address your network card is pulling.
Re: I have a LaserJet 2200 series which completely opens up in case something gets stuck by the rollers, or whatever they're called. Try opening up the printer and taking out the toner cartridge. See if you could find a staple anywhere under there??
I have a bit of a problem. I don't know what I did, but all of a sudden, for some strange reason, I can't download stuff off of IE. Lets say I click on a link in Internet Explorer to a .zip file. Instead of asking me to choose a …
Re: Notice any power spikes? i.e. machine shutting off unexpectedly, etc. that could damage or wear out the power supply? Is the 0/1 flip switch on the back of the power supply set to on (if it exists, otherwise forget about it). Try other outlets that you definitely know work. (Check …
Re: So you know mandrake definitely works on the partition but redhat won't for some reason? Unfortunately I don't know enough about the different linux distributions to know how each would handle installing to a partition differently. How far into the installation do you get? Are you able to select the …
Re: You already asked this question in a different thread. [post]8153[/post] I'm locking this thread. I've already replied to your question in the above thread :)
Re: I'm an Asus fan. I used to run an AMD Athlon XP off of a Gigabit motherboard. It was okay I guess - never any big problems with it. But I really love my Asus.
Re: Are you behind a proxy server (i.e. at work or school?) Do you have a firewall installed?
Re: That's a pretty old-school machine. It might require a BIOS update to be able to detect such a large drive. (Remember, when that computer was designed hard drives ran about 500megs to 2 gigs in size). Check with the motherboard manufacturer and see if you can flash your bios.
Re: TV Tuners wouldn't work because all they do is convert your analog cable tv signal to a digital format your computer can process. You might be able to find short clips of various games streaming over the web (i.e. at a sports website) but I doubt it and it certainly …
Re: No no! Don't say that. Here's the deal ... We were on a shared server. Moved to a deciated server, but I underestimated the amount of power that this site needed, so the ded. server was slow as hell (that was yesterday). So now we're back on the shared server …
Re: Go into device manager and check for three things. The first is that there are no errors with your (most likely) secondary IDE channel, as this is what is most likely leading to your cd-rom drive. Second of all, check to make sure that your cd-rom is listed under available …
Re: Since they didn't post in the Windows 9x subforum, I'm assuming Win NT/2000/XP, but that's just a shot in the dark.
Daniweb is moving to our very own dedicated server! The site may be down/ you may be redirected over the next day or two while we do some fine tuning and the DNS entry updates itself.
Re: Basically, he's saying that you should download (from the web) the latest/updated drivers for your hardware. (Drivers are programs that make your hardware such as video card, etc. all work right). e.g. if you have an Nvidia GeForce 4 video card, go to the nvidia.com website and download the latest …
Re: When you install the Windows XP operating system, the setup program will ask you whether you wish to upgrade your current Windows installation. Or if you want to overwrite your entire existing hard drive with a clean install of WinXP (highly highly suggested). However, be sure to back-up any important …
help much needed ... i just bought myself an iMac for my dorm room and I can't for the life of me find a nice, freeware ftp client for OS X (jaguar) pleeeez help !!

Re: Hehe, yup! I can never follow along with that fr33k lingo and all that stuff. I guess it's cuz I'm not really a gamer ;) I'll never give up a good game of SimCity 4 or The Sims (+ expansion packs) though! (Gee, I'm really boring I guess LOL)
The End.
