Re: I've got an ATI 7500 64MB dual head. I'm not sure that you can do it, unless Hydravision has some features, I don't think that you can do it with an ATI card.
Re: Yes, you can run just fine without IPv6, if you're not running on an IPv6 enabled network. If things are running okay for you, more than likely (and most commonly) you're just running plain-old IPv4.
Re: Are you sure you don't have a stuck key on the keyboard? Like, Alt, Ctrl, or Windows, perhaps?
Re: So, what has your friend done so far with his project? This sounds like homework. We don't do homework for people; we help people with what they're working on. Please post some code they've done on their own.
Re: What OS are you running? When you pull down the drop-down box, what other options are there? Could it be possible that Microsoft Fax is the default option?
Re: How much stuff are you downloading? What's your connection speed? What bittorrent client are you using? It sounds like your upload bandwidth might be getting saturated. Try turning down the upload rate of your bittorrent client, like down to 15-20kB/s.
Re: Why did this happen? Did you rebuild your kernel or something? It looks like what happened is that /proc didn't mount, which screwed up a lot of stuff. What changes have you made to the system recently?

Re: Have you performed a reset of the router, and restored it back to factory defaults? Which is happening? Is the router not getting an IP address from the DSL, or are the clients connected to the router not getting IP addresses? Each problem could have a different solution.
Re: Another funny spin on this is to take a screen shot of how their desktop currently is, windows and all, and make that the desktop background. Then, minimize all their windows, and revel as they click on the background, thinking those are their real windows!
Re: Hey gang... Quick reminder: Phrases like "bullshit" and "Japs" aren't really nice things to say, and don't quite fall in line with our AUP. I think the discussion is a very healthy one, and all, but let's be sensitive of the words we use. :)
Re:
I gave my expired trial to someone today and it apparently worked!! So if anyone has any, dont throw them away before trying to use them. ;)
Um... You didn't have to give them your credit card number or anything, did you? I wouldn't be shocked if it turned out …
Re: Ew. You've got AtEase installed. That article isn't going to work. Your next move should be to wipe out that hard drive and reinstall MacOS on it. It's a pain in the arse to remove AtEase-- Take it from someone who has attempted before. You should jump back on eBay …
Re: the same Layout is one thing, the same internal spec is another. It's possible you might not ever get it to work. I'm not incredibly up on USB vs PS/2 connections/controllers, but it would seem that the keycodes might be different or something, but the software just won't recognize your …
Re: This is one of the few times I'd recommend trying a repair reinstallation of Windows. I've had success with 2k/XP in these situations. Try doing a forum search for information there.
Re: Yeah, does the system recognize the hard drive in the BIOS? Also, when taking a portable system apart, generally you don't "split" the pieces apart by removing the bottom screws-- those usually provide access to remove the keyboard, which in turn provides access to everything else inside of the system. …
Re: If you're running in Virtual PC, have you even configured the Virtual PC setup to pass on USB connections? I know that's something you've got to do in VMWare-- once I did that, I could use my USB hard drive with the Virtual machine just fine.
Re: What is that desktop theme you're running? Some type of skinning program? Might that be the source of the trouble?
Re: I'm just going to give it to you straight. USB drives SUCK in DOS. No matter what driver you attempt to use with it, it's not going to work, or work that well. I attempted this last year using a number of different methods, and it still took over 2 …
Re:
>Anything worth while take work... Lounging on a beach drinking Margaritas is worth while...
I don't have a beach nearby, and it costs around $70 US to fill up my van with gas. That's a LOT of work I'd have to do! :o
Re: It's possible to install most any x86 OS on any x86 system. The hard part is finding drivers for the devices in your system. From looking at HP's support website, they don't officially offer drivers for that system that support Windows 98. Your best bet would be to do some …
Re:
I'm running 2m pro, 130 megs of ram on a Compaq Dell Dimensions V400.
Um... So, is it a Compaq V400, or a Dell Dimension? I'm a little confused here...
Re: It also happens on your desktop window? What does that mean? Please clarify your query. It sounds initially like you may have a corrupt video card.
Re: Well... do you mean one of those machines is going to be replaced, or it's a box that you're going to replace the machine with? Heck, either one of those would probably run just fine if you did an OS reinstall on it. Pick either one of those, reformat the …

Re: My current PC runs Vista just fine. At least, it has run every one of the betas I've installed on it. But, incidentally, I will be building a new PC that will run Vista. It's not just because of Vista's coming out, it's just my regular upgrade cycle. I plan …
Re: I'll throw my hat in-- Woo Woo! Here, I'm alc6379. At justlinux.com, I'm Alex Cavnar, aka alc6379, the "Cookie Moderator"! I'd've used the same nickname here, but most forums don't like my long username. Glad to be here, and I hope I can help somebody!
Re: Both are great. I wouldn't recommend Gentoo for new users, but Ubuntu works great for advanced users, as well. Both are going to do MySQL and Apache just fine, though. If you can't get Gentoo install, I'd pick Ubuntu by process of elimination. After you've cut your teeth some with …
Re: My wife keeps hinting she wants to get me an upright bass for christmas... I'd really like one, but I'd feel guilty if she spent $1500 US on me for one! Meanwhile, I'm happy with my modded-out Fender Jazz bass and 120W Trace Elliot studio model amp.
Re: I'm 6'5". Wife's 6' even. Does that throw your stats off any?

Re: Here's a BIG note, too: Sometimes, those discs only work in the model they've shipped with, or the brand they're meant for. Additionally, you're not legally supposed to install it on more than one system, because you only have one license to install with. That, of course, is taken by …
Re: Try resetting your BIOS defaults and clearing your NVRAM. Depending on the model of motherboard, you will probably have to hit the <DELETE> key to get into the BIOS. Also, there should be a jumper on your motherboard that clears your BIOS settings. On mine, it's labelled JP1. Check your …
Re: Too true. You might have a bad heatsink or something. Or, you could be looking at having to upgrade your BIOS revision. All the same, Dell tech support can help you out with that if you're still within warranty.
