Dude take a screen shot unless it's your monitor press PrintScrn button or PrintScreen. Then paste it in like paint or photoshop or some kind of picture editing tool save the picture and post it.

Did you mean a network share? Or did you mean something else? If a network share make sure that username/password is on that server that is sharing the file/folder. If so use that user etc etc

Have you updated the Video Driver on the laptop? Besides updating it via Windows Update go to your laptop manufactor site and get a updated driver that should honestly clear this problem. It's at least one of the things I would do.

Your doing nothing wrong you most likely need the Windows CD to continue. Not the first time I heard of a problem like this. When recieving a laptop always make sure it comes with the CD otherwise you might be hurting in the long run.
