My problem with Eye Candy is that it uses too many resources without enhancing the user experience, especially when a user has invested many years in using the standard interface.

Try cleaning the installation disc. Some files can be safely skipped, others cannot. Sometimes copying the disc will reduce the number of errors.

Can you access any other page? See here for more info: http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E403.html Can you FTP to this site? Do you know for sure that the server is up? You should probably contact the web host.

"Save as" allows you to change the name of a file, but changing the extension won't have any effect except to confuse the issue. i.e., saving "Yesterday.htm" as "Yesterday.mp3" won't allow you to play it. My guess is you haven't found an actual mp3 download. Try this one, which works …

You can't do any significant damage, but it would make sense to try and solve the problem. Make sure you have the latest version of movie maker and your graphics drivers. Look in event viewer and see if there are any entries related to this problem.

Welcome. I spent some of my Army time in Vietnam, so I can sympathize a bit. I looked at your thread. This IP: 169.254.45.252(Preferred) indicates you are not getting an IP from the router. It's the IP assigned when you don't get a DHCP address. It can't be changed after …

Dell makes excellent computers. You installed drivers that are not supported by the manufacturer, nor written by a programmer, so perhaps you could take credit for this problem. Try a system restore back to when the drivers were working.

The file association has changed. Right-click the file, select "Open With", choose program. Check the "Always use..." box.

If the drive is installed properly, you need to format it. Right-click My Computer/Manage/Disk Management Look or a drive that's unpartitioned, probably below the C drive. Right-click to Format NTFS

If you have have an actual install CD you should be OK. You can't actually delete any files from it. Boot from the CD and follow the install prompts, including formatting the disk. If you need more help, include the make and model of the machine and type of CD.

I'd bet you need SP2. You can download the network installer here and burn it to a CD: http://thesource.ofallevil.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

What Caperjack said. Delete any existing partitions and reformat NTFS. It's curious that a new drive would show a131 GB unpartitioned space, though.

In the standard screen, maximize the window. Open IE/Tools and clear the temp files. Re-set the home page and see if that helps. I think this is an IE problem, not a Google setting.

Don't use your disk. Every new file may be overwriting a file you want to recover. This one is free, and works well: http://www.snapfiles.com/download/dlrestoration.html

I do this with Windows Explorer. I'm not exactly sure what the problem is, since this is rather basic-open two explorer windows (One for the old drive, one for the new. Drag and drop. More details if this doesn't help.

Many computers have USB 2.0 and 1.1 ports. The high speed ports are often on the front panel. You can look in device manager under USB for an "Enhanced" (USB 2.0) controller. USB 2.0 add-in cards are available. Send computer specs for more info.

You could try reading the documentation that came with your computer (Radical, I know). Or: Right click My Computer/Manage/Disk Management. Look at the C drive and see how it's partitioned.

The number and length of the beeps are codes, so tell us exactly what they are. Did you replace the thermal paste? At this point it won't hurt to take the processor off and carefully re-do the procedure.

It seems that you used the wrong format-to restore an active drive or partition you need the Nero Image tool. My best guess is that you can use this backup by reinstalling Windows, then Nero, and use the restore feature. The Nero help files are here: http://www.nero.com/enu/support-manuals-helpfiles.html

Remove the entry from the startup folder. You are in serious need of more memory. Most people think 512 MB is the minimum for XP, and RAM is cheap nowadays.

Remove the battery and hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds. Replace the battery and try again. If that fails, try booting from the CD and use the repair option.

Your CD ROM is almost certainly causing this as evidenced by the event viewer errors. I would remove it at least temporarily and plan on replacing it. The Sony site is easy to navigate and has a link to using the recovery partition.
