I have a gateway computer with a 2.8 MHz P4 w/ HT that stopped working. When booting, it gets stuck on the 3.5" floppy drive & just loops back to that divice & won't continue booting. I've tried disconnecting all my cards & the floppy & still get no bootup. The light on the motherboard does come on so is it the processor?
base on what you stated in red above, how and where do you see this message in your bios is not coming up on the screen.
As for the green light on the mother board it's an indicator to let you know that tehre is power going to the board a kinda safe guard to let you know you are to disconnect power before starting to work on the board.
Now if you are not getting the bios to post you need to check a few thing,
1 CMOS battery
2 is the board grounded.
3 are you getting power from the power supply - Indications are: is the PSU fan coming on, does the CPU fan comes on when you power on the PC
Go in the bios and remove the option to to stop on any error. Most times it defaults to keyboard or floppy. set it to none. and disable searching for floppy.
base on what you are telling us, was your boss scanning and the PC hang then he powered it off. did he delete the Norton anti virus directories or some files. try the last known good configuration on the safe boot menu. if that fails you will have to do a repair install (you will need the Vista DVD) Follow this link on how to do the repair
if you want to try i suggest you CREATE a system restore point then then give it a shot. i have only tried it in a VM. and it works fine.
And as always Bill will always have a patch for his product. the next version he should come out with is PATCH MICROSOFT the patch of all patches for all and any version of windows.
restart the pc with the flash drive already inserted. then right click on my computer and choose manage, then go to disk management, see if the drive show up there.
once you load the program you should see a few number in the task bar area. Although i am not sure if the home edition has the same feature ( i am using the ultimate edition)
welcome , you are in a good place.
ok in the bios remove the option to check for floppy or Alt on error (either Floppy, Keyboard or all) would be in bracket. change that to none. then restart.as soon ass the bios finish loading keep pressing F8 until you get a menu with " LAST KNOWn GOOD CONFIGURATION" as an option. start the pc in with that and let us know what happen
this would have to be done in the properties of the sheet. and you would probable have to create new fields >>>>some thing like Age: (Date()-([DoB])/365.25
why do you have to hit F1 to load the OS? what other message are you getting on the bios screen when you have to press F1
thats the shortest HJT log i have ever seen, but is seem ok, i suggest you do a repair install. the file is some how corrupted.
change the fan, most likely bearing going bad.
if you want to try linux OS try Ubuntu, or fedora ( both can be run from a live cd without installing on your pc)
check the refresh rate of your monitor, ensure you have the latest drivers for the video card. Check the temp on your CPU ( you can use everest for this)
a power rating below 300W will not run the card you are expecting to put in your PC. so don't forget to check the wattage on you present power supply. Also if the power supply does not have the PCi Express power connection your card would not work efficiently.
have you tried using the menu on the monitor.
check the battery. it might not being charge when plugged in.
in network connection are you connecting wireless or wired. are there any connections showing up in network connection?
is this happening after you start the PC or during working on it. have you installed anything recently. If any WHAT.
I agree deel is the better site for cheap, portability. HP and sony on the other hand is Very good but might be out of your range. IF you have registered for college already you might want to check out if they offer discount from dell ( most college are registered with dell for discount)
for the Windows XP X64 you will find few applications written for it, i installed a new copy of X64 and most of the programs i have on the 32bit will not install on the X64 as there are not X64 programs for it, office and most other microsoft application will run, but most 3rd party will not. I am just in the process of installing my printer drivers ( luckily they have the X64 version) For everyday use X64 is not the way to go
although you have a 1G stick in the PC that would be equivalent to 2 X 512MB. what you need to do is check the system properties and see how much ram is reported for the system. on the other hand you can remove the ram thats there and install the 2 you have. Giving your the 2G you want.
in windows me the commannd is winipcfg it should alos be on the start menu> accessories. Now here is the problem with windows me it give a lot of problem connecting to wireless. you would have to configure the wireless with the wireless card utility.
Hi my computer will not boot in normal or safe mode im getting this error on both boots
its the blue screen error.
Hp.. C0000135 (unable to locate component) This application has failed to start because usp10.dll was not found reinstall the application may fix this problemCan you help
what operating system do you have? and where are you seeing this error message?
do you have windows XP cd, because the other step would be to do a REPAIR installation
do you have encryption or compression on the hard drive....turn off if you do. Also run chkdsk /f let the pc reboot and run the check. then try to install again. I suggest you try downloading the Sp again or just get it straight from the Microsoft update page
If you are runnig windows on all pc i suggest you use the Windows Encryption. ( much easier to use) and less like to cause problems. However, here is a good program you can try Private Disk
remove the jumper WITH THE POWER OFF,
you also need to do a search for that file on the entire hard drive. and in the registry, try vondufix and combofix, ATF cleaner and ccleaner
A year ago what operating system was on the Hard drive. did you remove the jumper from the external hard drive
open the case a see whats going on with the fan. maybe dust clogging it and causing your processor to overheat and shutdown.
if you have another power supply to try, we could rule that out. But you did say it powers on the fans run and the lights comes on. is this a PCI video card or onboard.
try to start in safe mode, if you can't pop the windows xp cd in the d a repair. DO NOT FORMAT the drive
go to the windows medial player web site and download the latest version and install. or go to the vista update page and get the latest updates
are you files on an external hard drive.
Hi Friends,
I have a weird problem with my system. Whenever I Type IPConfig in Command Prompt. I got error of Media Disconnected. If I tried to ping to any site it gives me error that requested host is not found.
But the most weired thing is I am connected to the internet and I can easily access any site that is not under restriction of firewall.
Now You guys must be thinking then what's the issue. Basically I have come to this point because I cannot connect to the mail server in my outlook find the issue of server not found put me through this and I have come to the conclusion that in cmd mode I am not able to ping the any of the site. and on going to the ipconfig I find media disconnected issue.
I have tried to search for the same on internet but I come to conclusion that this issue happens in 80% CASES for the Wireless network user.
My Network DOES NOT show Unplugged Status. It is connected and receiving and sending the data properly. I am working on the same network throughout the day as I am a web developer. It causes no issues to development, Uploading submissions, surfing etc.. Even I am able to access the Main Server of my Company. But The Issues lies with the command prompt only I am not able to ping any damn site.......
Some Notable Points:--> I am connected to the …
I have just bought a Maxtor 3200 usb external hard drive. It is formatted in ntfs. I have two operating systems Win98SE and XPHome. Both are formatted in fat32. I need to keep them both in fat32. However, I can't seem to format the hard drive in fat32 (doesn't give me the option). The hard drive is 160gb. Do I need to partition it to be able to format it in fat32. If so, how big should the partitions be?
Hope you can help
Marian Rumens
Maxtor 3200, is this the size or the drive, is the rive made into the external enclosure. did you get a cd with the drive ( you can use this to format the drive to fat32) personally i would not because a drive over 137G will be easily damaged with fat file system
go to system properties, under the advance tab, under startup and recovery click on settings, remove the check mark from automatically restart under system failure. then try using the program again if the machine crash you should get a blue screen post the error code here. also tell us about these
Memory size =
Processor speed =

Software causing the problem.
Any new upgrade recently.
The operative word here is project management. you m might want to use that program you give a heads up on any project you are assigned. Microsoft hase a good one, "Microsoft Project" use it to manage task for example from the start of the project, you have to doo research, analysis, training on the task put all thiose in and give yourself reasonable time to also include slack time (Breaks, Coffee any thing) at the end it will tell you down the the last second you will spend on the task
A word of advises too, you are doing the right thing so far, taking on small projects ( you have to prove you can manage small one before you are given larger task) try to finish them long before they are needed and as quickly as you can with great accuracy and efficiency. you also need to look at the bigger picture the task you are given is a part of the whole. The project manager put your task in the mix and they have an idea how long it might take to finish( base on the project outline) from Microsoft project or what ever program they use. it is always good to ask question and be honest that the task given you were not trained on and ask for help or more time to finish. one of the main questions to ask how long do i have to complete this task. then try to get it …
you would have to download new themes. I doubt Microsoft provide any such so you would have to do a search and be careful where u get your theme from
Lot of bad stuff in your file, download and run this program in safe mode Vondufix and ATF cleaner and Ccleaner
run all 3 files in safe mode then MUST be downloaded to your desktop and run from there
do you have a tester you can use to verify if there is power coming out of the PSU. If you are certain that the PSU is working then we have to turn to the CPU. failing that then i would suspect the Mother board. Most likely due to the burnt out power supply.
was this PC connected to a external monitor recently, you might need to switch back with the Fn key.
Do you see anything on the screen, the bios, some logo anything?
when you use an board video then move to a pci card you should disable the on board slot through the BIOS. better yet uninstall the device through device manager then restart and disable through the bios. Also ensure you get the latest drivers from the website of the video card.
can you open and log in to any Chat program, AIM, Yahoo, MSN or or send and receive mail with Outlook or Microsoft outlook.
welcome
Here are a few comprehensive sites. you can try they give prices from various manufacturer.
when you power on the PC does ANY of the fans come on. Do you have another (maybe Older) Power supply you can try on the board to rule out the PSU. then move from there
