don't think that can be done. you can stop computers from announcing themselves to the master browser, but not from the AD DNS

sounds like you're looking for a way to harm someone's system. that's illegal and isn't tolerated on DW

no, bios passwords are too easy to break. if you really want to lock the PC get a special card like the ones from rogev http://www.rogev.co.il/site/detail/detail/detailDetail.asp?detail_id=474890

Re: Scsi

just read the wiki articles, everything is explained. the more devices you use on a SCSI the slower they are, because the bus is shared. for better performance use SAS. It is partially compatible with SATA, and you can connect about 128000 devices to it. I have tried 60 HDDs …

in big companies system admins have managers, and they work in teams anyhow. in smaller companies there is always a chain of command

having the same issue - it disappears in XP, bluescrrens in Vista, but works perfectly in Ubuntu. I managed to get the drive to run longer before it locks out by updating the system BIOS.

why do you need an external company for that? on linux servers install nagios and set it up to send alert emails if necessary. also you can use something like ipipi.com - that service receives email and send out SMS according to built in rules

AD - Active Directory. Log in to the workstation as Administrator, connect the printer, and after that re-login as the user and try to print. The power users have access to print, but not to install printers.
