Try a free program called Glary Utilities. Install it and just run the one click maintenance. This might help your problem. I've used this on many computers with the same problem as yours and it always seems to help.

Try downloading Recover my Files or Handy Recovery. They should help you get back some of your pictures. It will be a long process though. But I have used these programs to get back pictures after a format so they should work for you.

Definately a codec problem. if the above options don't work then download K-Lite Codec and install it. PS if all else fails just download VLC Player and watch your DVD's in that instead of Windows Media Player

Have you checked your motherboard for what BIOS chip you have? Then go online to get the BIOSBEEP Codes for your BIOS. That should tell you exactly what hardware is causing your trouble. BIOSCENTRAL.COM has the beepcodes on their site.

Just go to HP website. Go to the support/download section. Put in the model of your pc and download all the necessary drivers. Just download all the drivers you need. And don't forget the motherboard and chipset drivers as some of your devices may be onboard and not PCI cards.

Re: slow

Just download Glary Utilities and use the one-click maintenance to clean up your pc. The go in the modules tab and use start up manager to turn off everything at start up, except virus scanner. You want that running all the time.
