Re: TB probably looks in the default location for the wab file associated with your identity, It should work with no intervention. For extensions, look under Tools/Add ons.

Re: Disk 0 is the first Hard disk. If I understand you right, you need a USB/IDE/ adapter. Attach it to the Laptop USB port, then copy the appropriate files.

Re: You have to connect power to the HD. It looks like the white molex connector connects to a lead from the power supply, then to the HD.
Re: PC specs are the likely problem. Tell us RAM, CPU, etc. Chkdsk and defrag are good tools also. Any chance your HD is approaching capacity?
Re: Let's try changing just one, say jpgs: Right-click any jpg Select "open With" Select "Choose Program" Select the Program Check "always use..." See if the icon changes You may need to reboot.

At any given time I have at least 8-10 HDs lying around that I use for storage, or to replace HDs in dead machines. Large drives are so …
Re: You can find out about Beep Codes here: http://www.amptron.com/html/bios.beepcodes.html It seems likely you've installed the wrong RAM, or inserted it incorrectly:Be sure it's properly seated.
Re: Do you get the same problem in Safe mode? If not, this could be a driver issue.

Re:
My laptop works fine on this line, but the desktop still can't connect to the web. Could a NIC still allow me to ping and release/ renew, yet be damaged so as not connect to the internet? Thanks
I wouldn't think so, but crazier things have happened. Post ipconfig /all …
Re: It sounds as though your parents have abdicated their responsibility for raising their child. A restricted account is the right answer, but old fashioned discipline will work as well. (No computer access for x days, etc.).
Re: You can get some help with ICS here: http://www.homenethelp.com/ics/ics-install-arch.asp This would be significantly easier with a router.
Re: Post ipconfig /all The router default page is 192.168.2.1. What's the default modem address?
Re: Is this the same type of connection and the same broadband provider? One common solution is to power down everything (Remove the power cord from the router and the modem, turn off the PCs). Turn on the Modem, wait, router, wait, PCs. You may need to reset the router to …
Re: It does no harm to create a new drive (Probably D: ) It would be considerably easier to just move some files to the other partition. My Docs, for example, can be moved with Tweakui, and a disk cleanup would help. Install new programs on D.

Re: E:\qw.exe sounds like as CD drive. This is probably where your backup files are located. Typically, Quicken is installed on C:, and usually in Program Files. I think it might be in the Intuit Folder, but I don't have a way to check right now. All is not lost. Use …
Re: This is the kind of crazy project I've tried in the past. I,m sure you realize there are many better ways to get this drive working, like spending $20.00 on an external case, or installing the drive internally. That said, I believe you are correct about the controller being the …
Re: Sure. Just install another OS like Ubuntu or buy a copy of your favorite OS. Why do you want to do this? Fees are quite variable, but $50.00-$100.00 an hour is close.
Re: It sounds as though these two share some files. Reinstall the first version, then remove the second.
Re: Is this a Gateway keyboard? Try a standard keyboard, or a PS 2 keyboard.
Re: I think the only issue here is the swap file. Windows needs approximately 15% free space to function efficiently. This issue confuses many people, but as far as I can tell, you are correct:Installed programs don't affect performance unless they have some memory resident component.
Re: A legit PC will have a label posted on the machine with the key . There are several key finders here: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/ht/findxpkey.htm
Re: I would imagine it's clearly labeled. In most cases, you can re-set the password by removing the battery for a few minutes.
Re: I'm an ex-army officer, and leery of getting in between two senior NCOs. I would try System Restore.
Re: It's likely that you're right. Any security suite that's this unfriendly should be uninstalled. Most of these programs have settings for allowing network connections, and you're welcome to poke around until you figure it out, but I think these programs are serious overkill for most home users.
Re: Good advice, but this is a simple job that any moderately talented person can do quickly and well at home. If you hadn't cleaned it, you'd eventually get some overheating problems, which could cause any number of problems from shutting down to burning out components.
Re: Why did you replace the drive? If it's still working, you can copy or clone it. If not, you need a copy of your OS on a bootable CD. It appears that you have a SATA drive, so don't forget to load the drivers for it. As I recall, the …
Re: Install the drive properly-you haven't said whether it's internal/external, SATA or IDE, so ask if you need help with this. There is no need for an OS unless you want to boot from this drive. You haven't said what your OS is. If it's XP, right-click My Computer/Manage. Select Disk …
Re: Are you using ethernet or USB to connect to the modem? I have never heard of an ISP charging to check basic connectivity problems. Post ipconfig /all.
Re: Remove the HD and use a USB adapter to copy the files to another computer. You could also try a repair install.
Re: I've done this several times. A repair install has a good chance of succeeding, but it's not the right way to do this. All the reasons have already been pointed out. If you install the old drive as a slave, you can just copy your data, but you'll need to …
