What make and model is it? What version of windows are you using? Does it have it's own file transfer software? We need information to work with.

I came across this problem 2 days ago. The symptoms seem identical. It was a laptop and with some testing I found the southbridge on the laptop to be faulty. I suspect a faulty timer somewhere on the motherboard. I didn't find a cure.

Do you have any information to back your claims up? And why would anyone in their right mind want to do a system restore if they don't have a problem?!?!?!?

Just a thought before this thread is forgotten, did you remove the driver for your old graphics card before installing the new one?

The fist thing to do is open it up and find and remove and refit its ram. See if that has any effect.

It sounds like the windows registry has been corrupted. It's possible a windows update may repair the damage. If that doesn't help, let me know, and I will come up with some more idea's.

One thing to remember though, it's not having an XP disk that is important, it's having a valid and legal serial number for it.

You really shouldn't install that rubbish. It will slow your computer down and do a very poor job of protecting it. I can recommend some different software that will do a far far far better job of keeping your computer clean and is free if you like.

What PSU have you got? It is still possible that it is a PSU issue as games tend to draw more power than just about anything else.
